Timber Bridges need replacing

16/12/2018 // by admin

Stuart Town children won the poster competition What a fantastic afternoon we had last Friday.

Mumbil-Stuart Town CWA’s international day at Mumbil Hall was a roaring success.

A huge congratulations must go to the hard-working ladies at CWA and also to the students and teachers of Mumbil and Stuart Town public schools.

As announced on the day Stuart Town won the poster competition, however it was a close result and all the students from both schools did a fantastic job.

I was sitting with the mayor and I know he was impressed.

On the day there was also a special presentation done by Kathy Mason.

Kathy gave a fantastic presentation on the country of study, Botswana, I know every one appreciated Kathy making the effort and travelling out to Mumbil.

With the announcement that the Dripstone bridge needs replacing, I for one am pleased that the bridge is finally getting attention it needs.

It was only a band-aid fix after the last floods when it partially collapsed and I’m glad a new bridge is on the agenda. I know the 10-tonne restriction is a major inconvenience, but the end result will be worth it for this very important and busy road.

Until next fortnight,

Councillor Marcus Hanney.
