The city has 28 dog off-leash areas and most are signed and fenced and have poop disposal bags.
Some even have water access, small dog areas and exercise equipment.
The city has also opened up some of its beaches for dogs.
At Coochiemudlo Island’s Main Beach and Russell Island’s Lions Park, dogs can have a splash on the beach but must remain on leads during the bird migration season.
Every suburb in the city has at least one dog off-leash area.
At Alexandra Hills, dog parks are at George Street, Hanover Drive, Valantine Street, where there is a separate small-dog area, and at Windemere Road, where there is a separate small-dog area and dog equipment.
In Birkdale, dog parks are at Aquatic Paradise Park West, Commodore Drive, Lachlan Street, Three Paddocks Park and Thomas Street, where there is a separate small-dog area.

Capalaba has some of the largest dog areas at Brosnan Drive, parts of Capalaba Regional Park and Wentworth Drive where there is a separate small-dog area.
For dogs who love to get wet and chase a ball along the sand, Raby Bay Foreshore Park on Masthead Drive at Cleveland is ideal. It is unfenced and dogs can go in the water.
One of the city’s most loved parks, G.J. Walter Park in Middle Street, Cleveland, has its own dog park that is partially unfenced and is an ideal spot for dogs to go swimming.
No suburb is without a nearby dog park and at Ormiston, the park on Sturgeon Street has a separate area for small dogs.
Thornlands dog owners can walk their mutts at Manning Esplanade Park or Robert Mackie Park on Panorama Drive, where there is also dog agility equipment and a separate small dog area.
Another great park where dogs can have a good run around is at Victoria Point’s Fodder Forest on Link Road or at Les Moore Park, Wilson Esplanade.
Redland Bay has three dog off-leash parks one at Charlie Buckler Sportsfield on Boundary Street, another at Main Street and a foreshore walk at Talburpin Esplanade, Point Talburpin.
At Mount Cotton, dogs can test their agility on equipment at Community Park in Valley Way at Bohemia Court.
On the bay islands, Pioneer Park on Lamb Island has a grassy area for dogs which is unfenced and has no seating, like the dog area at Attunga Street on Macleay Island.

On North Stradbroke Island, at Dunwich, there is a dog off-leash area at Skatebowl Park in Barton Street, which is also unfenced with no seating.
At Home Beach, Point Lookout, dogs are allowed to swim in the water.
