EXCITEMENT has turned to despair for Mount Isa’s youth with popular group Justice Crew cancelling its much-anticipated show.

The Young People Ahead youth advisory group, which had been assisting in the planning of the mooted October event, said it was devastated. Group member Elijah Douglas said an alternative act was being sourced.

‘‘The youth group doesn’t want to leave kids and young people in the region disappointed, and everyone in the organising group are working hard to source an alternative artist to come,’’ Elijah said.

Junior members of the group Kirra and Mali Cairns wanted to reassure the community that the replacement act would be of similar calibre and there would be information about the new act when details became available. Senior members Courtney Shepherd and Diane Godfrey thanked the families involved in assisting the event and said tickets would remain valid for the new event, likely to be held in November, or a refund could be arranged.
