Tennis Australia has just released a superb offer where people can buy pre-sale tickets before the public.
This entitles any adult who is a member of a tennis club in Australia to purchase tickets on Friday September 5, and Friday September 12, for any packages or single sessions to any day or night at the Australian Open in 2015.
The Open commences on January 19, and runs for two weeks.
There are plenty of Parkes and District couples and families travelling to Melbourne in January to experience one of Australia’s most iconic sporting events.
A lot of people have been enquiring what the best way is to secure tickets.
Tickets go on sale to general public mid-October so a great opportunity to secure priority seating in either Rod Laver Arena or the newly roofed Margaret Court Arena.
Parkes Tennis Club has adult membership for just $45 per year which is one of the cheapest memberships across NSW.
If anyone would like to take advantage of this offer, they need to fill out a form from the tennis club and contact Secretary Di Scott on 0417 437 417 as soon as possible so details can be forwarded to Tennis NSW and they receive their exclusive membership number.
This weekend will see Parkes Tennis Club staging their Silver Category junior tour event which attracts players from across the eastern states of Australia.
Helpers are needed both in the canteen for a couple of hours on Saturday or Sunday and court spotting.
Court spotting is simply sitting and watching four courts of matches for a couple of hours and notifying Tournament Director Helen Magill back in the office by walkie talkie that matches have finished.
This enables the next matches to go on straight away and ensures minimal delay.
If you can help out either way, please contact Helen on 0407 253 888 as soon as possible as a roster will be drawn up.
Unfortunately volunteer helpers are few but the tennis club committee work tirelessly in offering tennis as a sport for the community of Parkes.
Any parents involved with children in junior comp, squads, Hot Shots, Tottenham trips, night competitions or any regular adult tennis players are encouraged to give a couple of hours of their time to make this weekend, which is the one and only fundraiser for the year, and the only time Parkes Tennis Club ask for help, a huge success.
There is no junior tennis tomorrow due to the Parkes Show.
Next Tuesday will be the final round of junior competition and a BBQ and presentations will follow.
Results from the penultimate round are as follows:
Bryce Taylor caused an upset win over good friend Tom Winter last week.
Tom was the hot favourite but Bryce overcame a dodgy knee to win by one game on the whistle.
Jay Arrow continues to improve his tennis and out played Josh Winter last week 6/2 while Abbey Kennedy and Brett Taylor finished in a 4-all draw.
Holly McColl and Marites Woods had a good match with Holly just getting the win 4/3 after Holly had wiped Georgia Sideris in a catch up match played prior 7/1.
Ryan Mackenzie, with a new found enthusiasm which could be attributed to the new flash looking racquet he was wielding, accounted for Yuan Rivera 6/4 last week.
Georgia Sideris and Kayla Swetland completed the final match in the Gold division with a 4-all draw.
Jackson Plummer and Luke Dison were seen having some beaut rallies in their match.
Both these boys have made some nice improvements to their games this term.
Jacko won 5/4.
Maticka Brown hit some sizzling ground shots last week to score a 6/2 win against a much improved Breanna Weekes.
Mikeely Birmingham and Alex Bartley-Richardson are both continuing to work hard in their training sessions.
They finished their match in a 3-all draw.
Monique Morgan showed her Pop how she plays tennis last week.
She was on her game with a hard fought 3/2 win over Makayla Strudwick.
Lucin Sarkissian and Maddy McCormick played a 5-all draw in their match.
Bridie Clowry proved a little too strong for Monica Hoswell, winning 5/1.
There are quite a few outstanding matches from the term due to excursions or illness which need to be completed by Tuesday, September 2.
These need to be finalised or $10 forfeit fees will have to be paid.
