VOS has a long history with cleaning up at the Master Builders Tasmania Awards for Excellence and its work on one of the Coast’s biggest projects was no exception.
The North-West arm of the state-wide company won a total of three awards for its efforts during construction of the aquatic centre.
VOS general manager Phillip Matthews said it was great to be recognised for their efforts.
“It was fantastic to win three awards for the one project,” Mr Matthews said.
“We didn’t win as many as we did last year but that’s how these things go and we are proud of what we achieved.”
The company won best use of masonry in a commercial project, best use of wood in a commercial project and the prestigious award for the best new construction in the $10 million to $20 million category.
Judges said the compound curves and large spans created challenges that needed innovative solutions and resourceful sub-contractors all of which contributed greatly to the outstanding success of this project.
The Coast also tasted success with Fairbrother Construction apprentice Luke Young being named Apprentice of the Year.
Luke will now represent Tasmania in the national awards, which the state has won the last three years in a row.
