ACES men’s hockey team tuned up for the Mount Isa hockey association finals by recording a 4-0 win against Hornets in their last fixture match of the season.

Troy Brogden, Patrick Brogden, Miebaka Dede and Peter Coleman were the goal scorers for Aces at the Mount Isa hockey fields.

T-Birds were forced to forfeit the other men’s match against Pirates due to injury.

In the women’s, Aces Blue head the double-header and had to settle for two goalless draws.

In their first encounter, nothing could separate them and T-Birds before backing up later for the same result against Hornets.

Pirates proved why they will prove a difficult match-up for all opponents in the finals, defeating Hornets 3-2 in a tightly fought match.

Pirates goals were scored by Vaneesa Smith, Danielle Harris and Di Smith while Kate Lovvett had a brace for the Hornets.
